How would you describe your personal style?

Vintage, or vintage inspired, I’m not afraid of colour or a bit of kitsch, but I also love fine craftsmanship and NZ designers. My style varies a lot depending on how I’m feeling, sometimes I want a very polished and clean look, other times I feel like being more rock n roll.

Any upcoming trends you can’t wait to wear?

I’m excited for Summer and a break from the wooly wear! I love light frocks in natural fibres, so will be rocking some of that in the coromandel over Christmas/New Year.

Who are your biggest style influences? Who do you admire most?

Once again I like to look back to move forward, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Diana Ross - I love the female icons of the 60’s and 70’s. I also really love and admire people who are not afraid to take risks and be creative with their style, Bowie, Bjork, Yukimi Nagano from Little Dragon.

We’ve seen some killer looks from your Westside character, Ngaire Munroe.  Has Ngaire’s style influenced your own?

In our first season we were in the 70’s, so that was an absolute dream for me - so many awesome costume pieces that I would definitely include in my own wardrobe. I’m less infatuated with 80’s style, which is where we are now in season 4, but Sarah our costume designer is very collaborative which allows me to have a part in putting together Ngaire’s wardrobe, which I love. I actually had a couple of pairs of shoes I’d bought from an op shop that I ended up bringing in for Ngaire because they were just so perfect for the character!

What will you be wearing this Summer?

Loose floaty things, linen, and a high waisted bikini (weather permitting!)

Describe your shopping style

I can case an op shop at lightning speed, and I go round my local ones regularly looking for things to jump out at me and inspire me. Then I tend to scoop up cheap basics from somewhere like AS Colour, and every now and then splurge on a beautiful piece by a kiwi designer. I don’t really follow trends, I like classic looks and things that last, and I try and steer clear of fast fashion.

What are your favourite stores/pieces on Curate?

Big fan of Jetsetbohemian, they always have an awesome selection of vintage and designer recycled.
